Any word on the new Apple store planned for Charleston, SC?

I found out about it by accident while doing a Google search for resellers in that area. No official word, but there was an article in the Charleston Post & Courier that said that Apple had submitted a architectural proposal of a downtown property to that city's planning commission.

Yahoo! Hot Jobs also features hiring ads for that city.

L2Technologies' new store offers a taste of Apple

While L2Technologies does not have the name recognition of an Apple Store, it certainly works in the meantime.

The Post and Courier reported in February that Apple Inc. is looking to open its first store in South Carolina at 301 King St., formerly home to Cumberland's and Grannie's Goodies.

L2Technologies, an Apple-authorized sales and service provider, opened its third location Saturday in the Oakwood Square shopping center at 401 W. Coleman Blvd. in Mount Pleasant.

Owner Tim Lidster said that under Apple's service provider program, his stores "provide warranty and non-warranty repairs for all of Apple's family of products, including desktop and portable computers." In-house iPod repair also is available. Repair turnaround time typically is 48 to 72 hours, he said.

L2Technologies also stocks all Apple products for resale except the iPod. In other words, you can touch, see and even smell that MacBook Pro before you buy it, just like in an Apple Store, a luxury forfeited on Internet purchases from Apple's Web site.

L2Technologies has two other locations, one at 3874 Savannah Highway in West Ashley and one in Beaufort.

Tech Plus at 1890 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. is the area's only other Apple authorized service provider, according to the guide on Apple's Web site.
