When you go to the Sound section of System Prefs, are there alternatives to "Internal Speaker" and "Line In" shown when you click on the "Output" and "Input" tabs? _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

| Of course, JohnnyBoy! How stupid of me. I forgot to look in the Sound section of System Preferences AFTER plugging in the dongle. Once plugged in, it is listed and I can select it. Seems to work well. Many thanks for the quick reply. |

Downloaded and installed Audacity (Intel release) but can't get it to record from a mic. Using a MacAlly iVoice mic that works perfectly on the Mini in other apps. I read the Audacity help files but maybe I'm still missing something.
Any ideas anyone? _________________ Mac+, SE30, Classic, 4400 (metal), 603, LC475, iMac bondi (3), iBk orange. In use: iBk 'ice' G3/500, PB12" G4, Mini C2D 1.83, MacBkPro 13", WiFi hub, 1 mouse & 1 keyb thru Teleport, 3 Acer 19", 1 Acer 23" |

Jazzman, start Audacity with the mic already plugged into your Mac. Then click on "Preferences" under the "Audacity" menu. The first button on the top-left of the Preferences dialogue box will be "Audio I/O". Click that and then change the settings of the "Input" and "Output" drop-down menus. _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

Yes but you could use an ordinary microphone amplifier to bring the signal up to "line" level. I expect you could buy such a device from "Maplin" or "Radio Shack".
