That's U.S. pricing and based upon a 2 year contract with AT&T.
It will be interesting to see what the pricing on the phone alone is. |

Have they said the phone will be sold without a contract? I was really pleased at the face Jobs said it will be no more than $199 around the world, thanks to the favourable exchange rate that means it will be about £100 in England _________________ MacBook 1.83Ghz C2D, 2GB Ram, 160GB 7200rpm HDD, OS X 10.6.5

Am I missing something? I was hoping you could just pre-order online. It looks like we'll have to stand in line. I hate that! |

Interesting, I think I'll hold my tongue until I see pricing on the various world stores. Currently the Canadian store does not say.
The US store states the following re: twice as fast 1/2 the price
*Based on 3G and EDGE testing. Actual speeds vary by site conditions. Based on iPhone 3G (8GB) and first-generation iPhone (8GB) purchases. Requires new 2-year AT&T rate plan, sold separately. |

The 11th can't come soon enough. I'm going with the white model.
Anyone else surprised about the iPod touch? I can't believe the prices are staying the same. Something has to give there. |

I can't see how anyone would now buy a touch with the iPhone pricing. Apple will have to try and lock people to starting the contract and prevent people being able to Jailbreak them. I would expect it being you have to sign the contract to buy an iPhone unlike now where you buy the phone and are left to register it yourself later. _________________ Phil

I'm still not sold on this iPhone thing.
Just kidding.... the wow begins here!
I can't think of anything holding me back now. I'll see you in line on the 11th.

You also have to pay for software updates. I think the iPod touch just became a giant loser. They would have to cut prices dramatically for me to change my mind about it. |

| Well my three criteria in order to get one didn't come true. The data plan increased $10/month according to macrumors, its still limited to at&t in the US, and sadly it doesn't make me breakfast! |

Yep, here's the press release from AT&T. That kinda sucks. Oh well, I'm an AT&T customer anyways. I was really just waiting for 16/32GB of storage and 3G. But wait a minute! It doesn't cook breakfast? That was a good one man. |

That sucks! That money you saved on the new iPhone goes straight to AT&Greedy over the next two years, and then some. The carriers always get you in the end. |

I hope so too, however the way we get burnt over here I very much doubt it - unless they are going to do some skulduggery with the contract tariffs.

| I was all excited until I read that AT&T was jacking up the price $10 bucks. On a student budget, $59 was going to be hard for me to swing as a second plan. It looks like I'll be using my iPod touch for a while longer. |

There is a lot to like, including the new price, flush jack, reported battery life and 3G speeds. It's not all good though. There are five things kind of bumming me out.
The glossy plastic back.
The dock cost extra now.
I was hoping for an upgraded camera.
There is no front facing camera for video chat.
Price increase for data. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini
