| No trouble here so far. The download and installation took a while though. |

Yep, it's a big one. It was a 420MB for my Mac mini and 198MB for my MacBook Pro. |

I'm trying to update my MacBook, but 'Software Update' has frozen.

| I haven't noticed any visible changes, but it looks like a lot of bugs were fixed. I especially like hearing that Time Machine reliability has been improved for restoring email messages and attachments. I really don't want my mail going bye-bye during a restore. |

Maybe it's just having trouble connecting to the Apple servers. I bet they are getting nailed. |

Yeah, that's a good point... Maybe I should try again later. Much later! _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

I'm pulling 700KB/s from Apple right now doing my third machine. The combo I downloaded earlier today was at 420MB. The new one is at 536MB. HUGE.

I thought you guys were ahead of us over there in the UK.
I would assume that you guys connect to the same servers? I just tried again and it seems to be working. I mean, it didn't find anything, but it worked. |

It's bizarre. My Mini (running Tiger) ran Software Update without a hitch - the blue bar extended really quickly and told me what I needed to update within about 15 to 20 seconds.
The MacBook is running Leopard and is connecting to the net through an AirPort connection to the Mini. On the third try, Software Update behaved as it should, blue bar extended, I got a list of available updates, and I unchecked everything apart from the 10.5.3 update. It started to download, got to '6.9MB of 420MB' and then stopped. And it's frozen like that for the last 8 to 10 minutes.
I don't know whether to try to re-start the process or not... _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

JB I would try a re-start you haven't begun the installation of it yet so you should be in the clear. _________________ MacMini 2.0GHz C2D (2009)

You're absolutely right, Tony. I've re-started and now it's well on its way.... (says JohnnyBoy with fingers crossed)
[Edit: No sooner had I clicked "Submit", than the damn update froze again. Me and my big mouth...] _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

Try deleting the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist file. |

Try it from the Apple link I posted earlier. I always do the combo update. The one time I didn't back in 10.4.? I had some big problems and usually have good luck with the combo's vs the delta's. _________________ MacMini 2.0GHz C2D (2009)
