| Did it speed things up? I'm still sitting on the sidelines when it comes to Office 2008. Especially after hearing some of the comments from Bobaloo and Devo about it being slow. |

When they say VBA is coming back in the next version, do they mean in 2011 or when SP2 comes out? You never really know with Microsoft, do you? |

I just downloaded it from MS's Apple site.

Im pretty sure they mean the next retail release of MS Office, whenever that might be. _________________ MacBook 1.83Ghz C2D, 2GB Ram, 160GB 7200rpm HDD, OS X 10.6.5

I just installed it on my iMac, and I don't notice any increase in the application startup speed. It's still slower than the 2004 versions were in Rosetta. _________________ Mini 1: 2.3 ghz Core i5; 8 gb RAM, Corsair 240gb SSD, 500 gb Seagate XT

Got it working finally by trashing some .plist files. It is one hell of a lot speedier now! _________________ MacBook 1.83Ghz C2D, 2GB Ram, 160GB 7200rpm HDD, OS X 10.6.5

I could not get it to install on Office 2008 Home & Student Edition. It didn't see the volume as being eligible. _________________ 1.66Ghz Intel Core Duo + 1GB Ram + 80GB HD + TripLite B022-002-KT-R KVM + Bose Roommate II Speakers (circa 1990)

I had to trash the Microsoft Office 2008 settings and OfficePID .plist files too. After that, it worked fine for me. I do think it feels a tad faster with SP1. It's not earth shattering though, and it's still disappointing compared to Office 2004. I was expecting a much larger increase with it going Universal. |

Word opens up in about 5 seconds now which is a really big improvement over the time before SP1. _________________ MacBook 1.83Ghz C2D, 2GB Ram, 160GB 7200rpm HDD, OS X 10.6.5

I've talked about Office 2008 performance with Bobaloo, but I'm actually using iWork '08. No worries about speed with that suite. It's really worked out well for me. |

I just installed the update, and now I am not able to run Office.
After a successful download and install, each time I try to launch Word (or Excel or PowerPoint) the Microsoft Office Setup Assistant launches instead. After declining to participate in the survey, it goes to the Get Started page with options for online help or registration. I hit "Finish" and Setup Assistant closes, only to launch Microsoft AutoUpdate. After ensuring that there are no other updates available, I exit and try again to launch Word. The whole process begins again.
I tried trashing the OfficePID.plist file as others have done, but that did not resolve the problem.
Any ideas as to why I cannot launch any of the Office apps?
Thanks. |
