Koingo Software has announced the release of Mac Pilot 3, a new version of their customization software for Mac OS X. According to the company, Mac Pilot 3 sports approximately two hundred new features and enhancements. This brings the total number of features in Mac Pilot to over six hundred, allowing users to completely customize the Dock, Finder, Safari, and numerous other Apple and third party applications with little more than a mouse click.

Mac Pilot 3 is fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, as well as Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. All features in the application come with documentation, and a reset function to reverse any unwanted changes.

The upgrade to Mac Pilot 3 is free for users who had purchased Mac Pilot 1.x/2.x after October 31, 2007. For new users, the price is $19.95. A free demo is available for download as well.

Is this considered a 'hackie' that could mess up my system or is it pretty benign?

personally if you were gonna alter some settings in osx i would go the free way by using onxy or tinkertool. both have good customization features with a restore default option if something goes wrong or if your want it back to stock setting. this is not dangerous to your system at all, it just gives you the ability to change certain aspects in osx
