Iomega MiniMax for Mac mini
Thursday August 18, 2005
Iomega International S.A has launched the Iomega MiniMax Desktop Hard Drive, a Hi-Speed Dual connectivity (USB 2.0 and Firewire) external device designed to compliment the form factor of the Mac mini and boost its storage capacity by up to 250GB.
"Iomega's MiniMax Drive has been designed to appeal to a wide range of data storage demands," said Walter Grinberg, Product Manager, Iomega International S.A. "Not only does our drive perfectly compliment the Mac mini but with the inclusion of multiple USB and Firewire ports it becomes a Mac hub allowing multiple users to manage, organise and protect digital movies, photography and music."
The MiniMax HDD comes with Dantz Retrospect and Iomega Automatic Backup Pro software for hassle-free backups and data recovery.
There will be two versions available for Europe in September. A 160Gb drive costing £149 and a 250Gb drive costing £199. We don't know if Iomega will offer MiniMax in the United States at this time.

Yet another M9-DX unit (the front LED is a dead giveaway).

| I keep reading about Dantz Retrospect software coming with these mini drives. Can you download Dantz Retrospect for free? Are there any good free backup programs out there? I was going to order the $99 mini Stack. Does it come with backup software? |

Only the miniStacks pre-configured with a drive come with the backup software. The $99 model does not. _________________ 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

I bought this program for $.99 the other day....

It seems to work pretty well. I guess it is a promo they are running right now. It is normally $29.99. You should see a banner ad on that page for the $.99 pricing if you go there. I had also been trying out a few other demos as well....
Here is the link for the $.99 pricing...

Carbon Copy Cloner is free and has been updated to work with OS 10.4.2. The free version of SuperDuper only does a ful disk clone and erases the target disk every time you run it. The rergistered version will do incremental backups and you can select only the folers or files you want to back up. _________________ 1.42Ghz

| LaCie ships SilverKeeper with their drives. It works with any hardware, and is freeware. |

soundzen, you get the necromancer of the year award for reviving this thread from the dead! I was reading this thinking, "£199 for a 250Gb drive? Are you freakin' kidding me?" Then I saw that it was from the year 2005...
