In winxp I used to run this app called dtemp, just a little tool to tell me my disk temps. I can't find anything like this in osx, any ideas? Thanks! _________________ mac mini 1.42/1gig ram/bluetooth/

|
|
In System Preferences->Energy Saver->Sleep, I have the following checked:
[v] Put the hard disk(s) to sleep whenever possible
There is this warning at the bottom of the dialog box in the Preferences of Temperature Monitor->General:
"Probing hard disk sensors in short intervals might degrade disk and system performance"
The install defaults to HD Sensor probe to every 1 minute with the following note:
"Note: The update interval for hard disk sensors is set so small that the hard disks will no longer enter sleep mode."
The note only goes away if you move the slider past 10 minutes to at least 20 minutes.
Does anybody keep this monitor up all the time with the short probe (1-10 min)? Do you notice a difference in performance? Do recommend keeping it at the default value of 1 min? |

| I would leave it at the defaults levels. I can't really say if it hurts performance. If I was going to run it all the time I might consider moving it up to every 10 minutes. I just wanted to get a general idea of the temperature and don't keep it running all the time. My temperature seems to run around 92.4 F. |
