Miglia today announced the release of the TVMini HD Express for US (ATSC) digital television users. The small aluminum USB tuner ships with The Tube software from Equinux. According to the company, this allows users to watch, pause, rewind, skip forward and record live digital TV. And with the software's new TubeToGo feature, you can watch your pre-recorded TV anywhere in the world with just a web browser and a Wi-Fi connection. The TVMini HD Express is available now, and has a suggested retail price of $99.

I might pick one of these up for playing around sake. I have wanted to try out the Tube software and compare it with EyeTV for a while now. The aluminum enclosure also looks better than the $129 plastic Tubestick. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

I would assume that means a DVB-T version is coming out. |

I don't think there's ANY over-the-air digital signal in my whole region...
The only options are the old over-the-air analog signals (you can barely get 2 or 3 channels if you don't mind a noisy picture), cable (analog/digital) or satellite (digital). However, the cheapest package is around 30-35$/month for the most basic channels, by the time you add any meaningful channels (which come in packages of 4-5 channels, even if you only want 1), you end up with a 40-60$ monthly bill. Just to watch a handful of shows?
I'm happy we finally have TV shows in the iTunes Store in Canada. But the price is too high (2$/episode, no season passes) and the picture is full of interlacing problems. _________________ Mac mini 2010 (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz/8 GiB)

Wow, that sucks. I bet DVDs are your best friend. Do you guys a good Netflix type service up there? |

Yep, DVDs are my best option for movies, although with the speed of internet access in Canada, I'd rather rent from the iTunes store instead.
As for Netflix and similar, I'm not sure but anyway I'm not interested in any service which has a monthly fee. It's still cheaper to go rent DVDs for 1$, six months after their release. _________________ Mac mini 2010 (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz/8 GiB)
