Apple Announces iPhone 2.0 Software Beta

Apple today previewed its iPhone 2.0 software, scheduled for release this June, and announced the immediate availability of a beta release of the software to selected developers and enterprise customers. The iPhone 2.0 beta release includes both the iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) as well as new enterprise features such as support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync to provide secure, over-the-air push email, contacts and calendars as well as remote wipe, and the addition of Cisco IPsec VPN for encrypted access to private corporate networks.

I just wish that Apple used a different accounting method for the iPod touch. It looks like us touch owners will have to pay to play again. Crying or Very sad

I think everything sounds and looks great, but June seems so far away. I guess on the bright side, 16GB iPhones should be going for $399 by then. Or at least that's what I'm hoping for.

That thud you heard today was everyone else in the smartphone market passing out. These announcement were excellent. Now, if we could just do something about that AT&T thing.

Have any of you guys seen an MP4 download of the keynote yet?

I just wonder how large the file size of your average game or application will run? Take the Spore game from EA for example.
