Apple Announces iPhone 2.0 Software Beta

Apple today previewed its iPhone 2.0 software, scheduled for release this June, and announced the immediate availability of a beta release of the software to selected developers and enterprise customers. The iPhone 2.0 beta release includes both the iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) as well as new enterprise features such as support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync to provide secure, over-the-air push email, contacts and calendars as well as remote wipe, and the addition of Cisco IPsec VPN for encrypted access to private corporate networks.

Bring on the games and AIM!
I just wish that Apple used a different accounting method for the iPod touch. It looks like us touch owners will have to pay to play again.  |

| I think everything sounds and looks great, but June seems so far away. I guess on the bright side, 16GB iPhones should be going for $399 by then. Or at least that's what I'm hoping for. |

Now might be a good time to short RIMM.
That thud you heard today was everyone else in the smartphone market passing out. These announcement were excellent. Now, if we could just do something about that AT&T thing.
