Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this advert in my local paper.
| Quote: | | "Powermac G4 MDD for sale. Mint condition. 1.25 Ghz : 1 GB Ram. 2 HDD drives 80 + 160. Four firewire ports 400+800. New DVD+burner added. Complete with original discs, original keyboard and pro mouse. Runs OS-9 natively and Leopard. Free delivery. $A150." | (approx $120 US)
Naturally, I couldn't help but buy it.
On eBay.com.au, this baby, is highly sought after. I've tracked 10 of them and none have sold for less than $500~$600 a piece.
So now, I've got a machine that can run OS-9, OS-X, and Debian Linux.
I can't stop grinning from ear to ear.

PS. My only worry is how to explain to my dear partner, that I have bought another computer. (This makes at least 10)
I'm running out of places to hide them..
Hmm.. Maybe I could tell her it's a coffee table base... _________________ Of the four X systems in the world.

WOW,WOW,WOW!! What a deal! I would have snatched it up as well. Your a lucky chap! I never get those deals, well, sorta. I got my iBook G3 for $175 U.S. and they go for about $300 but, not as sweet a deal as you got! I'd love to have a MDD to add to the collection! Thanks HM.
Like you, I rarely get such a break. But this time the Mac Gods were looking out for me.

MDD G4s are awesome, if you can get over the noise. Space for 4 ATA hard drives, and it can take over 128GB drives natively, 2 optical drives, 4 RAM slots for 2GB total, 4 PCI slots, so they were super expandable.
I had a Dual 1GHz model, it was a good machine. I got a great deal when I sold it 2 years ago (~$800), but I do wish I still had it around as it'd be a great file and print server. _________________ MacBook Pro 1.83GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, Dell 802.11n card, 1.4TB external

Hehehe.
Since then, I have bought 4 more computers.
2 laptops..
Dell latitude D600 el cheapo..
another IMB thinkpad R25.
Plus
Mac Imac 400 (which is a funny story in iteself...)
I bought it for $5 on the grounds that the guys at the Cash Convertors store said it was broken. The reality was, that being PC guys, they couldn't figure how to switch it on... I press the start button and ...viola...up she starts...purring like a kitten...Loaded with Tiger and a whole pile of nice software. Should get at least $30 for it... Either that, or I'll clean her up and give her to someone who needs it..
&
Dell Optiplex 745.
Bought it today in fact...she is a SFF and quite the kitted out sweety..
She has 8 Usb-2 ports and room for more...
Can you imagine...what fun I'll have sticking Linux or even OS X on it...?

Aqua, can you run Compiz on the Dell SFF - is the integrated graphics card good enough for that? I ask because I can't run it on my Ubuntu VM on my mini that operates through VMware Fusion. (Too bad; I wanted to try the dock feature of gnome-do.) _________________ Mini 1: 2.3 ghz Core i5; 8 gb RAM, Corsair 240gb SSD, 500 gb Seagate XT
