has anyone tried it to connect an apple tv to an older tv connecting the component video y output to the composite video in?

does it work?

i am thinking of getting an apple tv (seeing that there has been a price reduction ) and i want to make sure it will work.

or does anyone know of an hdmi to dvi converter that will work?

i do have the dvi to composite dongle i got for my mac mini so i can connect it to a vcr.

The Apple DVI to Video adapter will NOT work. You will need to try this hack or buy a converter like this.

under the hack does apple tv permanently remember the setting or am i going to have to do the hack each time?.

there's no power button or anyway to really turn off ATV so it should remember it. . .
