Predict the next Mac mini update
"The last Mac Mini update saw overall specs being upgraded, but the CPUs remained at 1.25GHz and 1.42GHz. When do you predict the Mac Mini will get a CPU speed increase?"

Meh, I'm saying when it's the Time of the Mactels. With Apple's upgrades running around 6-10 months and us having about 10 months until we get back to July, when the first Mactels are supposed to come out, there's not too much room for two upgrades considering everyone's saying that the low-end Macs will be upgraded first. I will admit that the Mini will be very long in the tooth by the time that comes around and that the 7448 procs from Motorola are probably looking nice with lower heat and higher speeds I believe. I would say a January update the Mini would make sense. A little boost to things, considering the last boost was just adding wireless and upping RAM. Needed? Yes. Impressive? No.
I think we'll be seeing a couple upgrades in January; a lot of things are going to be needing upgrades around that time. _________________ Computer Engineer

MWSF '06 ... Mac Mini 1.42 + 1.58 and the low end eMac will be bumped to 512MB RAM.
[edited - changed '05 to '06 - oh the embarassment! ]
[edited - how come I can spell "embarassment" but typo "to"? ]

You didn't know that Apple routine releases updates on Thursdays when everyone's asleep? You know, you'd think it'd a Tuesday, around 7-9am, but 2:16 sounds much more reasonable.
Why's everyone saying November? _________________ Computer Engineer

Often they do not have updates before Christmas. Instead revisions are made after Christmas to boost sales.
I would say any update will be in the New Year or it won't happen until Intel chips. |

Glad to see I have someone else that's on my side of the sense. Apple doesn't veer much from its release patterns, though what it releases seems to be more unpredictable as time goes on. _________________ Computer Engineer
