Just saw this link to an LCD keybaord over at BYODKM.net. I posted about a the same idea, to create a keyboard using displays on every key, here with the actual product website here.
That design uses OLED, which last longer, are brighter and more vivid, cheaper to manufactor due to their simpler design, and use less electricity. Not only that, but the cost difference between color and two-tone is much smaller than with LCDs. Unfortunately, LCD technology will be used in the new iKeyTypePro keyboard and it's two-tone at that, but at least it will be produced! It is run off of USB2.0, so the Mini should be able to use it.
The website isn't finished, so I'm thinking we won't see an actual prototype for a little bit. Hopefully Mac support will be included! It'd actually be nice if a standard for keyboards like this was created and support for them could be built into the OS, just like support for a basic keyboard is now. That way the OS would handle displaying the correct characters, because who knows how this keyboard actually works during bootup or BIOS for a PC. _________________ Computer Engineer

What does the "donkey" key do
Take a look at the picture on the website, if you're confused.

I looked and I'm still confused. Did you mean the infinity symbol? I think that that cycles through all available languages on the host OS so you can see all of the keyboard layouts. <- Totally made that up, but it sounds cool. _________________ Computer Engineer

Oh. Well, it's probably for eDonkey2000. I was looking on the website for the new keyboard that will actually be produced. The image you linked to is from a prototype keyboard that uses OLED technology. The iKeyTypePro keyboard is actually what this post is about. I was just referencing that other one because it was only announced a month or two ago.
This is the website for the keyboard that will actually be manufactored:

LOL. How could I confuse the infinity symbol for a donkey?
Thanks for the link again. I'll check it out closer and let you know what I think. |

I won't even answer that question, .
I didn't know if there was another name for the infinity symbol that I didn't know; I don't know. _________________ Computer Engineer

I think it will DEFINITELY have support for macs, otherwise, why would they show the promo video in Quicktime. For us PC users, quicktime=rare. We all use WMP.
Edit: Also on their history page, they first designed it by taking an apple keyboard and pulling it apart. _________________ Gone. |

VERY cool looking. Don't know if I'd actually like using it, but it would definitely be neat to look at. _________________ -=iMav=-

Maybe it uses default settinngs when it knows theres nothing really driving it but the power, like its software not being there... if you know what i mean |
