HierarchicalDock v1.1 Released

Eternal Storms Software today announced the release of HierarchicalDock v1.1, a simple application for creating folders in your Leopard Dock that have hierarchical menus. According to the developer, this version adds the use of Quick Look previews for files instead of file icons (optional) and includes two new sorting-modes (by "last used date" and "creation date", additionally to alphabetical sorting). Alias files are now resolved, too. HierarchicalDock v1.1 requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later. The download (direct download) weighs in at 1.48MB.

There aren't any proper screenshots on the site; is this some kind of Windows 'Start' menu that sprouts from the dock?

I just tried it, and it seems to be an attempt to re-create the hierarchical menus that used to pop up in 10.4 and lower when you right clicked on a folder in the dock.
So far it's fairly nice. Stacks is one of the features of 10.5 I could really do without, or at least choose not to use. I really miss the hierarchical folders in the dock from 10.4.
Color me impressed for now, but that's only after 10 minutes of using it. I'll have to play with it more to give a real opinion.

You guys do know you can still do that with Leopard right? You do need to put the folder right of the dotted line in the dock (where "downloads" is).
edit: oh I see, that program gives you classical menus instead of the new stacks.

My only issue with it (and others like it) is that it requires a different mode of activation than what was previously used. You have to click on it to bring up the hierarchical menu instead of ctrl- or right click. This means you have to do an extra action to use it - first click, then move the mouse to the hierarchical menu and then navigate. Not a big deal but it the way it was under Tiger involves one continuous action.

Agreed, and you have to left click, instead of right click, which means retraining my brain and fingers.
