Snarb Releases XHub Media Center 2.3
Friday, November 30, 2007

Snarb.tk today announced the immediate availability of XHub Media Center 2.3, a Leopard compatible version of its home theater software. According to the company, this version also continues to enhance and tweak the performance of XHub to ensure utmost reliability. I've really become a fan of this application over the last few months. It's become a nice alternative to Front Row and MediaCentral for me. XHub Media Center is priced at $24.95 and requires Mac OS X Tiger or later. Upgrades to version 2.3 from previous versions are free. A fully functional demo is available for download.

I have tried to install the demo before but was never able to get the program to open. I am really keen to get this to work as it is the only FR alternative with integrated EyeTV
Anyone care to comment on their experiences? _________________ Intel 2.4Ghz/4G Ram/1TB HDD/Server MacMini

System Preferences -> Other -> XHub -> Launch. Enter with ⌥ ⌘ ⏎ or by pressing the Menu button on your Apple Remote. Will that not work for you? |

yeah this version works, as in, I can get it to launch.
Initial feelings, I like the ideas.....
In truth, I have been using it for 10mins and already uninstalled it. it takes about 40seconds to get to live TV and then when exiting TV I get stuck in a loop that requires a force quit. The overall navigation is slow and choppy and looks 'cheap'
I love the visualizer in the background of the album coverart in music, I love being able to view music with coverflow (if only apple would make coverflow like the iphones, able to flip the album to select a song!) and I love the customizability and love the movie posters for the divx movies.
All of this on paper make this the dream front end, unfortunately in practice..... it still has a little way to go yet.
Very promising though _________________ Intel 2.4Ghz/4G Ram/1TB HDD/Server MacMini

| Xhub is pretty nice. I just wish that Apple would add radio to Front Row and let Elgato do it's magic. It would then be just about perfect. |
