When you first use your mini Spotlight is incredibly fast - almost instant search results. But over time the thing gets slower and slower until it's easier to use a finding program or terminal. When that happens, especially after you load a ton of stuff onto your Mac, what should you do? Reindex, or something more? _________________ Mac Mini 1.25 Ghz, 512 Mb RAM |

Check this out. There are a few other fixes, but this might be what you're looking for.
"The 'mdutil' command can be used to completely erase the existing Spotlight index. The system then fully reindexes all local writable volumes. This is usually far, far faster than waiting for the "endless indexing" problem to resolve itself or using mdimport to update an index, and it appears to be the most effective fix for Spotlight woes.
To do this, open Terminal and type this command:
sudo mdutil -E / "
