Sonnet Technologies today introduced its Aria Extreme-n 802.11n wireless mini-PCIe card. According to the company, the Aria Extreme-n adds draft 802.11n wireless connectivity to compatible Macs without a wireless card, and upgrades systems originally sold with an 802.11g AirPort Extreme card. This includes the Mac Pro, MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac (Intel), and Mac mini (Intel). The upgrade kit also includes specialized tools and detailed instructions for the installation. The Aria Extreme-n will be available November 16, 2007 with the suggested retail price of $129.95.

It replaces the internal Airport Extreme card or the lack there of. The antenna's have been installed in Macs even if you purchased the machine without Airport. There are no external antennas. It uses the internal ones Apple supplies...

It says it connects to the computers internal antenna(s).

| I thought you needed at least two antennas for 802.11n. I need to look into this more. The price is decent though. They beat QuickerTek by $50 bucks. But then again, they include a big external tri-band antenna. |

Also don't you have to have a wireless n router to do this?
So if you have a macbook and go to panera to do homework, and they have a wireless g router, you probably can't get on since that g doesn't have mixed mode.

No, you'll be fine. The 802.11n draft standard is backwards compatible with 802.11g, 802.11b and even 802.11a networks.
In fact, I was just at Panera last week doing homework (I love that place), and I put an 802.11n card in my MacBook Pro. Their wireless worked perfectly.

Are there other kind of wireless n cards we can put in our mini's? Made for the mini? Or did you put something else in your macbook?

There's lots of threads on it if you do a search. Basically, the current card in there is a standard G card. Apple makes N cards for the Mac Pros which you can purchase, or you can go the route I did, which is find a compatible card made by Dell.

They do, as does the Mac Pro, MacBooks and iMacs. I believe all of Apple's lineup, sans the Xserves use the same card.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but do they advertise this card then as being compatible with mini, for some reason I thought they only sold it as a macbook pro accessory.

Which card are you talking about? If it's the Sonnet Aria, then their page states it works on "many Intel based Macs" and they list the Mini, Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, iMac and MacBook.
If we're talking about the Apple card, then it's a bit of a different story. The part is officially an Apple service part, and it's intended only for the Mac Pro as the Mac Pro doesn't come standard with Airport. However, the card can work in any other Intel Mac, provided you force the drivers to install (though I don't know if that's still necessary in Leopard).
