|
| I WILL be buying a Mini today, finnally leaving Windows. The question I have is, if I buy the top model, should i stay with 512 of RAM or a Gig? The other thing is that by adding a gig, the ship dates go from 1 to 2 to 6 to 8 days, and I alreay waited about 2 months before getting a Mini in the first place. |

Don't buy your memory from Apple. $175 is too expensive for 1GB. Take the 512MB and run. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

So $175 is the price difference now, eh?
Well I would probably just get the 512MB model it will probably suit your needs. Or, pull the 512Mb and sell it. You might get $10 for it . Spend another $80 on a 1GB chip.
It depends if you want to do the work or not. |

| I would start with the standard 512 MB. The 1 GB is an easy upgrade and is less expensive doing it yourself. |

You should be fine with 512Mb, though if you start doing any of the really creative apps you'll start thrashing the swap, and with the really slow harddrive, it'll hurt. Go with a gig if you can afford it, though buy it aftermarket, it's way cheaper and easy to install. _________________ Computer Engineer

| Thanks! I decided to stay with the 512 and maybe go for 1 gig after. The mini is ordered and I just can't wait!!! (Did you know that the French OS X is made in Irland? No wonder Apple says it should take 6 to 8 days. Does anyone know how accuate is Apple with their shipping dates? I hope they over do them!) |

| If you want a cheaper memory, try visit RAMJET site (1 Gig only $139). |

A stick of RAM at BestBuy is $99. They're overpriced and still cheaper than RAMJET. You can find quality 1 Gb sticks for as little as $70. _________________ Computer Engineer
