|
|
Hi guys. Please help me to get the patchstick to work.
Here are the steps i followed:
1) Factory restored Apple TV to v1.0
2) Downloaded patchstick fiiles from torrent (Apple.TV.Patchstick.Testing.nonfree)
3) Unzipped "patchstick.img.bz2" and got "patchstick.img" with 511,999 kb of size
4) Went to http://wiki.awkwardtv.org/wiki/Booting_from_a_USB_Thumbdrive
and downloaded "DD" for windows.
5) Placed DD.exe and the patchstick.img in the same folder.
6) Went to command prompt, typed dd--list, and this is what i got:
| Quote: | Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
E:\Documents and Settings\Owner>cd desktop
E:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop>cd folder
E:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\folder>dd --list
rawwrite dd for windows version 0.5.

7) I then formatted my 4GB Sandisk Cruzer Micro. Which is device O: indicated in bold above.
Typed the following:
dd if=patchstick.img of=\\?\Device\Harddisk7\Partition0 bs=1M --progress
9) It then copied to my flash drive
10) Plugged in flash drive to apple tv, then rebooted and black text came up. It then said i could unplug and replug the apple TV in again so i removed the USB Drive and did this.
But no ATV Loader appears? What am i doing wrong?
The reason i downloaded the patchstick is because i have leopard, not tiger, and apparently tiger is needed to create the patchstick. I dont know how to downgrade.
Thanks for your help. I will greatly appreciate it. |

i solved the problem with the help of teldec and your ssh -1 frontrow@AppleTV.local suggestion and the use of FUGU for MAC OS X.
For anyone else with the problem, i copied ATV Loader to the apple TV using FUGU, then opened terminal and typed cd "ATV Loader", and then sudo -s ./installme. It then proceeded to install the pluging for my apple TV.
THis site helped me ALOT, http://www.shalomlevytam.com/index.php? ... 25-114119, second post down namely AppleTV Install ATV Loader Clarified |

| Be carefull some apple tv's have blockouts to keep you from upgrading the hard drive make sure that if you are going to upgrade the hard drive that you do not upgrade the firmware on the apple tv untill you are done updating the hard drive |
