Adium 1.1.4 Released
Tuesday, November 6, 2007
Posted by: Brian
The Adium team has announced the release of Adium 1.1.4. According to the developers, this release fixes most Mac OS X 10.5-related issues in Adium 1.1.3. This includes issues with contact dragging, the image picker, and interactions with Spaces. It also fixes a number of issues for all users of Adium 1.x: log indexing and searching has been improved, passwords are no longer improperly removed from the Keychain, several crashes have been addressed, and more. You can view the complete change log here. Adium 1.1.4 weighs in at 15.7MB and requires Mac OS X 10.4.0 or later.

And it's only going to get better when they add video over the next few months. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

I don't much care if they ever add video. I love the built-in OTR encryption and the multiple protocol/account support. It gives me everything GAIM gives me in linux (and more considering I have to install a third party OTR plugin for GAIM). _________________ -=iMav=-

Actually, the people that work on Adium might be better off putting their efforts elsewhere. There are rumors that Microsoft is done with the development of Messenger in its current state and that something new is coming in Office 2008. |

But MSN is the main way of instant messaging over here, no-one uses AIM or AOL. So I would like to see proper support after an OS release. _________________ - MacBook Pro, 15inch, 2.4GHz, 2GB, 160GB HDD, SuperDrive. I Love this Mac!!!!

I've never had a problem logging into MSN with Adium. In fact, I log into MSN ith Adium, CenterICQ, and GAIM (all based on the same libraries (libgaim)).

MSN Messenger is not multi-protocol capable. I switch between CenterICQ, GAIM, and Adium (depending on the OS I'm on and what restrictions are in place at my perimeter). All of these allow me to be connected to MSN, ICQ, AIM, YIM, and Jabber services. If I had to limit myself to one IM protocol, it CERTAINLY wouldn't be MSN...It'd be the open standard, Jabber.
Jabber is great in that it is de-centralized. Anyone can stand up a Jabber server and immediately chat with any other Jabber user (gchat, for example). It's all based on SRV records (dns). _________________ -=iMav=-
