Glad we have PAL here Anyway, this all makes clear, there is enough reason to change the internal videocard (+ give it a bit more RAM) in the 2nde generation macMini.
Let all write to Steve! _________________ take care,

Using SwitchRezX, I have the resolution set at either 1280x768 @ 65Hz or 1280x720 @ 69Hz. The monitor is an HDTV with DVD-D connection.
The only problem is with iTunes visualizer which uses 1024x768 setting (don't know what refresh rate). I still get the snowy colored things when the visualizer is mostly black.

I got my mini today and hooked it up to my Planar PL191M using the DVI-D and what is up with all of this screen flicker? This is enough to drive you nuts. Great move Apple for all of those PC folks you want to convert.
Does it work better using the VGA? Does anyone have theirs connected to an CRT? _________________ Is that a Mac Mini in your pocket or are you just happy to see me. |

I have the same monitor and was able to fix the problem (temporarily until Apple fixes it) by using SwitchResX. Try 1280x1024 @ 57hz. Or download cscreen from my link above and run it: "cscreen -d 32 -x 1280 -y 1024 -r 57"
Also, please call Apple and report the problem. They will probably tell you that your motherboard needs to be replaced (their current cop-out solution which does not fix the problem). |

Switched it over to VGA when I put it on the KVM and all is fine. I have read that some are having a darkness issue when during this but mine appears to be OK.
My gig ram stick is on the UPS truck as I write this so a little surgery is in store for this evening. Wish me luck. _________________ Is that a Mac Mini in your pocket or are you just happy to see me. |

No problems.
Didn't have a putty knife small enough and just as I was coming upstairs I noticed have thin the outdoor grill stuff was...case came off in about ten seconds. Getting the cover back on took the longest part. _________________ Is that a Mac Mini in your pocket or are you just happy to see me. |

| I went from 256 -> 512 (cause I forgot there was only 1 ram slot) and I definitely noticed the speed increase when more than a couple apps are open. |

Maybe later if you feel the need, you buy 1GB, or maybe then there are bigger ones (over 1GB). Sell the 256 as soon as possible or put it in other (Power)PC. Memory is pretty cheap these days and is getting cheaper. _________________ take care,
