Led Zeppelin Digital Box Set Available for Pre-Order on iTunes
Tuesday, October 23, 2007
Posted by: Glenn
Apple today announced that a special digital box set containing Led Zeppelin's entire discography, "The Complete Led Zeppelin," (iTunes link) is now available for pre-order exclusively on the iTunes Store. "The Complete Led Zeppelin" is a 165-track collection of all 13 of the legendary group's albums, including the new career-spanning "Mothership" (iTunes link) retrospective, for $99.
Led Zeppelin's "Mothership," a 24-track collection of the group's best-known songs, hand-picked by Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, is also available today for pre-order. Touching on every studio album, the collection contains defining songs including "Whole Lotta Love," "Rock and Roll" and "Kashmir." In addition to "The Complete Led Zeppelin" and "Mothership," Led Zeppelin's entire catalog of songs and albums will also be available for individual purchase and download beginning November 13.
Fans who pre-order "The Complete Led Zeppelin" or "Mothership" will be automatically entered to win the chance to see the band's reunion performance at London's O2 Arena on November 26 as part of the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute. The winners will receive two tickets to the show, round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations.

Listening to Led Zeppelin always makes me think about being in high school and the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

Am I that predictable?
Actually, I already have every studio track ever recorded by Zep ripped into iTunes. It's good to see them finally come though. Maybe these kids today will discover what great music is. I cry every time that I look at the iTunes top ten.
Hey guys. If anyone here wins the contest, please take me. Please, please, me! That reminds me. When are the Beatles coming to iTunes. Someone here should get that one. |

Hmmmm. With close to 10,000 songs in iTunes, I can't say that I know even one song of theirs. Is that bad??? |

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is going to have a hard time in 20 years.

Not even Stairway to Heaven?
Maybe we need to get a School of Rock going on here. |

I was about to agree with you guys. And then I realised that we've turned into our parents
"When I was young, you could understand the lyrics..."
CaliforniaMini, stop whatever it is that you're doing and immediately purchase some music by Led Zeppelin. Then you can listen to the soundtrack for a time when gasoline was expensive, people thought that we were close to ecological disaster and the US was embroiled in a very unpopular foreign war.
Uhhh, hold on a minute..... _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

Isn't that scary!
I've actually heard this phrase come out of my mouth.

Nope, just listened to it on YouTube . . . well, few minutes anyway. Never heard it, but the hook sounds familiar, like I've heard it before. But definitely not my type of music, sorry! |

Next month, The Song Remains the Same movie and soundtrack are being reissued.
It was a corny, indulgent video project to begin with, and a reissue seems to me like wallowing in nostalgia, but...
On one hand, Led Zep used a lot of songs and riffs, especially from classic bluesmen, without giving proper credit. So on moral grounds I'd rather recommend Leadbelly, Howlin' Wolf and Big Bill Broonzy. BUT Led Zep were so good!!! I had all their albums on cassette tape. Good times.. at least, what I can still remember from then, I think. |

I had the same reaction first listening to Stairway on the radio. Overplayed, I thought it was way overrated.
On a different note, every Heavy Metal band ever owes their existence to LZepplin, yet that style was only a small part of Zep's own musical range.
On second thought, its probably way too late... |

WOW I almost missed this thread.....Musta been out looking for my street corner girl!
Alltho there is a constant debate as to Zepplins use of others work, I think almost every artist in R&R up to Zeppelin are guilty of the same. Most of Rocks roots are from Southern Blues/Folk, electrified. Led Zeppelin Just took it to a higher plane.
Cassettes damn I think I still have Physical Graffiti lying around on 8-Track!

| I'm totally not sure that codec warble gives the same kind of vibe as vinyl, man, but I guess if you're looking to get away from that harsh crispness of compact disc audio, its a start. |
