| Anybody else tried a usb powered notebook cooler for their mini? I live in a place that gets warm during the summer, and the Targus notebook cooler has eliminated any fan usage with my mini. |

| It's pretty quiet. I really don't notice it at all. It is probably twenty percent noisier than the stock mini fan. For me, it was worth it to have a lot less times when the fan kicks in. |

I don't understand. If it is 20% noisier, where is the benefit? |

Because the fan doesn't turn ON and OFF and ON and OFF whenever you run programs, it's a steady humming sound. _________________ Gone. |

Whatever turns your crank, I guess. I'm sure not going to pay more and make my mini look funny to gain 20% more constant noise.
I'm trying to go the opposite way. I want my fan off if possible, or as much as possible, while "just" surfing. I like absolute silence.
I understand what you're saying about constant noise being less annoying than intermittent noise. Especially if your trying to go to sleep. |

Do you like the sounds of silence?
Simon and Garfunkel would be so proud! _________________ Me with Woz!

There is a harmonic noise isolating tool that comes with every Mac. Pop in an audio cd and play it with iTunes. The slight noise from this device, external drives, etc, is canceled out and no longer a nuisance.
I was floored when I first discovered this feature. Apple should market it better. _________________ 1.42Ghz

And on the same ticket, these babies do wonders for making your mini perfectly silent:
Just pop those on and you're all set.
If that doesn't work for you ... you could always use these:
